The first few weeks were bleak. In October, we contacted writing programs and high schools across the country about an essay contest: The Lily wanted high school students — girls and young women — to write about their lives for us.
Those entering the contest will be emailed an ACT essay prompt. The student needs to write the essay on the printable sheets provided in the email. Essays not written on the given Answer sheets will be disqualified. Your name or your school’s name should not be written on the Answer sheets. The handwritten essay responses should be scanned.
